wonderfully made // featuring octavia & the ocean.

Hi lovelies! Today I'd like to introduce you to Octavia from Octavia & The Ocean! She is my featured Wonderfully Made Woman this week and I'm so excited to have her as a guest (and friend!) on my blog.

Hello! I'm Octavia McAloon and six months ago, I started a lifestyle blog with a heavy focus on music, photography, cooking, and stories from my life, laden with snark and sarcasm at times. I just graduated from music school studying classical voice and am trying to make sure my life doesn't become stagnant and void of creativity now that I'm out of school. I do a lot of ensemble singing, some songwriting, and some composition, and just started a job as a swimming instructor for kids. Please feel free to stop by my blog and come say hello; I'd love to talk to you!

1. I love my body. I like looking in the mirror a lot. Recently, I've stopped seeing this as egotistical and more of a confident way of appreciating myself. This positivity has accrued in the past year. Before that time (for much of my adolescence) I really didn't like my nose, my chest or my thighs, and white I may sometimes get a touch of that insecurity, I mostly just love how i look now! There's nothing wrong with someone loving how they look or wanting to look at themselves a lot, but there's so much wrong with people never wanting to look at themselves.

2. I'm awesome at music. My mom knew before I was born I was going to be a musician because she could hear me singing to myself when she was pregnant. I started learning aural skills very early in life and had a piano or keyboard available most of my upbringing. As my music friends could tell you, my reading skills are amazing and the people I sing with love my voice and refer to my pitch as infallible. I love learning new music things and I always want to be my best, in any position or ensemble.

3. I like to think that I'm pretty damn funny. Not in a let-me-tell-you-a-joke sort of way, but more of silliness mixed with sarcasm mixed with some very colorful language and a lot of energy. My boyfriend Cullen says I make him laugh every day and my friends think I can be pretty ridiculous--in a good way. I also have a tag on my tumblr called "late night blogging" that has a bunch of stupid and ridiculous thoughts that I think of when I'm online too late.

Random Question: If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably some sort of seafood pasta. I love pasta and cheese and cream or wine based sauces or seafood, and could change it up just enough that I probably wouldn't get tired of it for at least 2 months....maybe.

Thanks, Octavia! Be sure to check out her awesome, witty and adorable blog!
